Barclays inaugurates new campus in Pune

Barclays has opened its new campus in Kharadi, Pune. Spread across approximately 1.1 million square feet of building area, this is Barclays’ largest single location outside of its global headquarters in London  and will house 9,000 of its 19,000 permanent employees based in India. The newly-launched campus will further strengthen Barclays’ global network, supporting innovation and ensuring increased integration of operations and technology services in India.  The Pune campus will play a key role in leveraging the large pool of existing talent in Barclays and co-locating teams to deliver greater value to customers and clients. The campus will also look at harnessing local talent to deliver innovative solutions to help address the requirements of the global market. With best in class technology, good practices, and smart applications, Barclays aims to offer its clients and customers personalised experience, automated solutions, and increase operational efficiency. Barclays’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Mark Ashton-Rigby, said, “Barclays has had a significant presence in India for almost thirty years, and we are continuing to invest. Our new Pune campus will help to further unlock India’s potential, reaffirm our commitment towards the government’s Make in India initiative, and promote the UK-India economic partnership. This campus will play a pivotal role in creating a working space that truly facilitates collaboration and accelerates innovation, transforming the way we work and do business.”

Miba Drivetec inaugurates manufacturing plant in Pune

Miba Drivetec India (MDI), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Miba AG Austria inaugurated its new manufacturing facility at Koregaon Bhima near Pune. Miba is a leading supplier of industrial bearings, friction and sinter solutions for automotive, construction machinery, tractors, aircraft, wind energy, and highspeed trains. With an investment of Rs 9 crore in the setting up of the plant and machinery, Miba Drivetec India, which at present manufactures components for brakes, transmission, axles, clutches for off-highway, has the capacity to manufacture 25 lakh friction discs as well as steel discs annually. Initially started in the year 2007, Miba had the advantage of being the first mover in India for manufacturing components for brakes, transmission, axles, clutches for the off-highway industry.
The new manufacturing plant was inaugurated by Brigitte Oppinger Walchshofer, Austrian Ambassador to India, in presence of F. Peter Mitterbauer, Chairman, Miba Group, Martin Liebl, General Manager and MD, Miba Friction Group and Satish Barve, MD, Miba Drivetec India Pvt Ltd.

Atlas Copco oxygen plant at Vrindavan hospital

Atlas Copco inaugurated an onsite oxygen plant at Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Vrindavan, today. This is a CSR  initiative from Atlas Copco, and is a part of their community engagement and social outreach projects. The project has been undertaken through Beacon Medæs, a leader in medical gas and laboratory gas systemsThe project includes medical gas pipeline system, including pipes, zone valve boxes, area alarms, master alarms, outlets and bedheads as per international standards; medical air system and medical vacuum system. The system has a manifold back-up of 60 oxygen cylinders in case of a major maintenance activity taking place for the oxygen generation plant. The plant would lead to a more reliable source of oxygen supply, lowering the risk of interruption of supply for patients, which is a huge challenge in remote locations.  Conrad Latham, General Manager, Compressor Technique, Atlas Copco India said, “The on-site oxygen plant at Ramkrishna Mission Hospital is an opportunity for us to positively impact people’s lives and contribute to better healthcare facilities using our innovative technologies. Atlas Copco is committed to inclusive, responsible growth, and to use its corporate strengths to uplift, empower and aid the community and country it operates in.” Atlas Copco, as part of its CSR program, also plans to provide on-site oxygen plants to more hospitals across Maharashtra in locations like Sangli, Nagpur and Mumbai. Beacon Medæs is a leading specialist in the design, supply and installation of piped medical gas distribution systems.
